The Kate Moss-designed handbag collection from Longchamp is a hit according to Vogue. Like her prior Topshop collections, the bags are flying out the stores and around many celebrity arms. Well-known fans of the range include stylist Katy England who has the black Glastonbury bag, Peaches Geldof — who prefers the nude Glastonbury — and former Wonderbra model Eva Herzigova and Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine) who both have been spotted with the green Soho clutch. The hardest bag to get though? The Gloucester which has reportedly sold out.

Johnny Depp’s leading lady, Vanessa Paradis, has been announced as the face for Chanel’s Coco Cocoon range of handbags. The puffy-quilted handbags were introduced last year reports WWD. The model, singer and Johnny Depp’s baby mama is currently starring in the advertising campaign for Chanel’s Rouge Coco lipstick. These are not her first forays with the brand — she first appeared in 1994 television spot for Coco fragrance. The images which have been photographed by head designer Karl Lagerfeld are expected to start appearing in fashion magazines in June.

Last month, Alexa Chung photographed her outfit daily and posted it on a Vogue blog for everyone to see what the It Girl was wearing. The Today I’m Wearing… feature was such a hit that Vogue is reporting that sales of the cover girl’s preferred clothes and wardrobe choices have risen dramactically on eBay. After Alexa had sported a pair of dungarees, eBay saw the sales increase by 75%. Clogs, similar to the pair Alexa wore on the March cover saw a hike as well, with sales jumping just under 200%. eBay spokesperson Julia Hutton-Potts told Vogue, “It seems that whatever Alexa wears, we want to wear.”

Fashionistas have been tweeting all week. Why wasn’t Lindsay at the Ungaro show? Quite simply: she no longer works for them. After last season’s less-than-stellar showing, the occasional actress and singer failed to show up at the fashion house’s Paris Fashion Week show, instead opting to sit front row at shows like Viktor & Rolf, Dior and Kenzo. Ungaro owner Asim Abdullah had told the media that La Lohan was not involved in the latest collection which even without Lindsay’s input was still dated and nothing spectacular. Considering Lindsay was brought in to inject a youthful edge and give the brand some much-needed publicity perhaps firing her was a bold move for Ungaro. Although no designer, the troubled celebrity did put the label back in the headlines.

The reviews are pouring in for the Lindsay Lohan-headed collection for Ungaro. And oh dear, they are not good. Which is not wholly surprising. The collection by head designer Estrella Archs and La Lohan was created in one month. And unfortunately for the ladies, it showed. Twitter was set ablaze with comments. But it was the review from Women’s Wear Daily, the fashion bible, that really stung. WWD are reporting that the collection looked cheesy and dated. Lindsay’s brief to make the fashion house look “cooler” was clearly not working. The bright colours and — shudder — heart-shaped pasties were enough for WWD to call the collection an embarrassment and urge Lindsay to try acting again. I think a “Fail!” would go down well now.

Vogue is reporting that Sarah Jessica Parker is set to be the new face of Halston. The actress has been spotted on the set of the Sex & The City sequel in more than one of the iconic label’s creations. The fashion house only recently signed new creative director Mario Schwab, a favourite with stars like Kate, Kylie and Thandie Newton. The fashionista has reportedly been offered one million pounds to front the advertising campaigns. The campaign is set to coincide with the release of the movie.

Celeb spawn Peaches Geldof is waxing lyrical about the different types of It Boys on Nylon. Among them are the famous-by-association groupies like BJ Panda Bear, who are besties with Kelly Osbourne apparently. Jonny Makeup, Ms Geldof’s BFF and American Apparel’s marketing person is also a good example. DJs are also uber-chic with Steve Aoki and the boys from The MisShapes top of the list, the first for having doe-eyed model Devon Aoki for a sister and the latter for preparing the soundtrack music for shows and parties during Fashion Week. Genetic It Boys — aka those born to famous parents — like a certain Ms Geldof are low in talent but compensate with their inherited good looks. I’m sure their parents’ bags of money helps as well. It seems Mick Jagger’s brood is the fairest of them all. Jade Jagger is a renowned jewellery designer but probably more famous for being part of scandalous Primrose Hill gang. Elizabeth Jagger is a successful model and actress. And now daughter Georgia and son James are also joining the fold. One is giving modeling a try and the other is dating them.

Jimmy Choo founder and president Tamara Mellon announced to Elle UK that the luxury shoe and accessory label will be branching into fragrances. Jimmy Choo has just signed a 12-year fragrance licensing agreement with Paris company Inter Parfums SA, the home of Burberry Lanvin and Paul Smith fragrances. Speaking of the deal signed this week and starting in January 2010, Mellon stated “It has always been my vision to fully accessorise the woman, and fragrance is an integral part of the modern wardrobe. I look forward to bringing this important aspect of my vision to life.” Fragrance deals are always a happy moment for a frugal fashionista. Although we cannot afford the strappy sandals we can still get our hands on a fragrance.

Forbes.com has published it’s annual list of the most powerful fashion editors. It’s no surprise who is topping that list. Despite the fact that her new contract is unsigned and Vogue’s advertising sales are down 26% from last year, Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief is still number one. Wintour knocked off last year’s number one, Glamour magazine’s Cindi Leive. Other prestigious editors include Elle’s Robbie Myers, More’s Leslie Jane Seymour and Allure’s Linda Wells.

Ms Wintour is in the news again — this time for her brainchild Fashion’s Night Out and its success. The concept of the event, which took place last Thursday was for over 700 clothing stores to stay open for a night of fabulous late-time shopping pre-fashion week . This was a bid to boost the ravaged retail sector after all the economic problems. Many designers like Oscar de la Renta and Michael Kors and celebs like Sarah Jessica Parkers pledged their support for the event but insiders started to wonder. Weere people going to turn up for the freebies and a glimpse of Justin Timberlake or were they really going to shop? Retails figures are yet to come in but it was said the event was a huge success in turnout alone. There are even calls to make it an annual pre-event to New York Fashion Week.

Kanye West was not the only thing making headlines at this year’s MTV VMAs. The new trailer for the eagerly-awaited sequel in the Twilight saga, New Moon was introduced by the movie’s stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart (rocking a Valentino mini, pity about her hair) and Taylor Lutner. If you’re a Twihard, you have to watch it now. Fashion was also a hot talking point with both reality TV star Kristin Cavallari and musician Katy Perry working the metallics. Shakira and Pink wore the same dress. Both tried different looks but I think Shakira wore it better. In the worst dressed category, Kanye’s girlfriend Amber Rose tried to make a snake-skin catsuit work. It didn’t. Leighton Meester, whom I love, and Jennifer Lopez also took some risks with short numbers and fabulous, albeit mismatched, shoes. Ladies, we do not enjoy.

I’m not completely sold on the idea of celebs designing clothes. It seems like a career fallback. They’re so desperate to stay in the spotlight so they try to add slashes and as many career options as they can. For goodness sake, the girls from The Hills have their own lines, with one debuting at NFW. Saying that, there are the ones like Gwen Stefani who actually make some fabulous pieces. And I completely loved Madonna’s line for H&M. I’m a sucker for a leotard. But when a celebrity more famous for her lovelife and rehab stints is made artistic adviser for a haute couture line, I get mad. Lindsay Lohan has been named as the face of Emanuel Ungaro. This decision was speculated weeks ago and even caused head designer, Esteban Cortazar to threaten to resign if that happened. A couple of weeks ago, Cortazar did resign his post. A move, in light of new developments, he might be really happy about.
