South Korean model Daul Kim passed away on 19 November. The model who walked the runways for Chanel and Dries Van Noten was found in her Paris apartment by her boyfriend. Vogue is reporting that there may be evidence to suggest the model took her own life. Sources are reporting a suicide note was left by the 20-year-old model that said “I relate to nothing. The more I gain, the more lonely it is.” Police have yet to confirm her cause of death.

“Save Luella!” That was the cry heard on Twitter, Facebook and blogs. The uber cool British label Luella Bartley ceased trading after the financial backers decided to stop investing in the label. The label favoured by London’s oh-so-hip crowd was also hit with the news that its Italian production company closed down. Which means, the fifties-inspired collection recently debuted on the runways and adored by the fashion crowds will not be going into business. Luella is considering a number of options but nothing has been set in stone. For the moment, the designer is concentrating on designing the Liberty Christmas windows.

Movies and TV shows depicting the fashion industry have been all the rage. From The Devil Wears Prada to Ugly Betty, nothing gets an audience as excited as a bitchy editor or diva fashion designer. This year saw two new documentaries hit the film festivals to rave reviews. One even scoring an Oscar nod. The September Issue was an ode to Anna Wintour with her trademark bob and sunglasses as she prepares along with the rest of Vogue US to create the September issue of the iconic magazine (Tidbit: the September issue is the biggest selling issue of the mag due to its coverage of the past spring shows and mass advertising pages). But it was the documentary directed by Matt Tyrnauer that has been nominated for an Oscar. The documentary entitled Valentino: The Last Emperor followed the career of the designer between June 2005 and July 2007. It was the only fashion film in the Best Documentary category, competing with 14 other non-fiction films.

Fashionista.com is reporting that Roland Mouret’s iconic Galaxy dress is set to return. The dress, once dubbed the “dress of the year” in 2006 was seen on everyone from Cameron Diaz to Victoria Beckham. The dress was famous for its starlets who couldn’t live without it as well as its sexy shape. And for all those women who love a nipped-in waist and hourglass figure, they can now purchase a new slip designed by the Frenchman. The slip will be in the shape of the iconic dress and is guaranteed to give you curves no matter what outfit you’re wearing.
