It’s been busy times for The Soapbox. We changed our publishing schedule, so throughout the week we’ve been having a regular stream of opinion posted up onto the site.
We kicked off last Monday with arguments on cultural diversity by Graham Robert Pote in Politics & Society. On Wednesday, firebrand columnist Rhoda Kadalie, spoke out on Helen Zille’s gender spat in The Guest Column. And then on Friday, Lara Moses shared her call for us to acknowledge the power of words — and change — in reshaping this nation. The Soapbox’s editor, Alex Matthews, also shared his two cents’s worth, with a piece in Politics & Society on the ANC’s alleged contempt for democracy.
Today we welcome a new guest columnist — Gareth Morgan, shadow environment minister — who writes about the impact of mining on the environment, and the most pressing issues in newly-appointed minister Buyelwa Sonjica’s in-tray.
Happy reading! Keep coming back for more this week for a whole host of different issues being discussed. Otherwise, subscribe to The Soapbox by entering your email address in the little subscribe box on the homepage. You’ll get an email every time the site’s updated, with the pieces arriving fresh in your inbox.
